Modern times and information have shown much of the population that they’re capable of anything,
given the right measure of determination and teaching materials. YouTube tutorials and educational
television programs are teaching people how to better themselves and learn skills they once thought
impossible or simply out of their reach.
This type of teaching, wherein one learns from a program or another form with no one there to
physically teach them, is known as self-coaching. This type of learning comes with several key benefits.

Why Self-Coach?

To begin, self-coaching is useful because nobody knows their limitations, history, and strengths like
themselves. Through self-coaching, people take advantage at what they’re naturally gifted at and use it
to their advantage. There are also no time or regional limitations with self-coaching, meaning people can
teach themselves anywhere and at any time.

Additionally, there’s always more than one way to learn how to do something – anything – and an
individual can pace themselves using the technique they think works best for them. Finally, self-coaching
allows individuals to think up new and innovative methods to problems, without the need of the
approval or confirmation of a coach.

Pros Of Hiring A Coach

Of course, not every problem can be solved through self-coaching, and hiring a coach, teacher, or trainer
will always have some advantages over self-coaching. For instance, individuals may not have the correct
knowledge base to know when they’re doing something wrong (while renovating a house for instance)
which can cause damage or set them back in their chosen skillset.

They will also have an easier time asking questions and being fed in-depth knowledge and answers from
a coach then they would from themselves. People are also more likely to take action with someone
watching over them then they are to self-motivate.

The Bottom Line

Whether you believe self-coaching or being coached by others is more beneficial, it’s absolutely crucial
to know yourself and know the strengths and weaknesses of your mindset. You can engage with a
problem from many different angles to further learn about your self and reflect on how you would
respond to different challenges and solve different problems.

If you’re crunched for time and need to know how to do something in a matter of days or a couple of
weeks, you’re better off with a coach, but if you have the time and inclination to learn a skill for
yourself, pushing yourself to be better, then a self-coaching may just be the best option for you.
